When Theresa May called for a snap election she, along with most of the UK, expected a landslide win with a higher majority. The opposite happened. The Conservatives lost seats and a majority, resulting in parliament. Although the deal with the DUP seems to be near certain, the future of the party is not.
The Conservatives lost their majority for a number of reasons, which this particular article is not about, but I believe that what this election has shown us is that the UK want a more liberal Conservative Part and as a 21 year old member of the Conservative party, this is what I define myself as.
There seems to be this misconception that all students are labour because of the promise of free tuition fees. While I have no doubt this false promise swayed a few, in my personal experience this is not the fundamental reason. They view labour as the socially correct, caring party with Corbyn the sincere honest leader who is set to change politics without consequences for anyone except the very rich who were clearly handed everything on a plate.
The' Millennials' ( a term I hate) are divided between those who remember news bulletin after news bulletin talking about austerity and cuts under Tory rule and those who remember the words unemployment and recession being drilled into them while Labour were in power. This website will be my musing, opinions and analysis on the Tory party- but in a very accessible way. I will always double check my facts and never post misleading headlines or fake news.
